My Maternity Shoot

So I tell the whole story of finding out I am pregnant, which I’m uploading to my channel tomorrow!I won’t lie, when I found out I was pregnant again, I was extremely ecstatic because I had always dreamed of having a big family. I knew that before Amari was one, I wanted another baby, however I was shocked at how fast it actually happened. The first thought that crossed my mind was, at least I will get to use all of Amari’s things that he outgrew, which surely excited me. For my maternity shoot I wanted something every different, so I decided to make my own maternity dress!

Granted, I had never sewed anything before but luckily I had an old sewing machine in my house. The sewing machine combined with my creative nature lead to deciding to design and create my own dress for my announcement shoot. I knew I wanted a pretty elegant dress, however I  figured that the things that you often see online is never the vision that you want. Even though I went with a simple design, because I did not want to mess it up, I can honestly say it is my own style and I was truly satisfied.

Nonetheless, after three days of cutting, sewing, a couple of mistakes here and there…my dress was created, and I was extremely impressed with how it turned out.

My fabric was purchased from Joanns with the original idea having an addition of a tulle skirt, however, I was unable to achieve that to my satisfaction. For the concept of the dress, I knew with my upcoming trip for Arizona, I wanted a Yoruba goddess mountain vibe, type of shoot, and that is exactly what was achieved.

I would say being pregnant and sewing wasn’t the easiest of tasks, yet, I sincerely did enjoy the tasks and definitely plan on sewing more in the new year.
