Creating a movement or a hashtag has been something that I’ve always wanted to do and the #beautyreexamined project came alive! Beauty reexamined to me is an expression of purity, ourselves in our pure form. No makeup nothing, just us. I often hear people make backhanded comments about how hey “look crazy/dusty/a mess (insert demeaning word here)” when they aren’t wearing makeup.
I created the hashtag beauty reexamined to show women that you are beautiful without makeup, its your confidence that would make people fall in line with that belief. I also decided to do a campaign to showcase 7 beautiful women in their natural form, no edits just raw skin. I think we don’t get much of that these days, I edit my selfies and most of my photos, so does all of social media. So to see women without makeup or any type of editing I thought would be rather refreshing. Too often, this idea of perfect is pushed so far into our minds that we don’t realize to be human is actually to be imperfect to have flaws and embrace them. Don’t pressure yourself to have flawless skin! Embrace every little pimple, it’s hard but its all worth it. For this project, I wanted women who had different types of skin, blemish free, non blemish free and just a general representation of a variety of skin types. There is dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, textured skin etc. All skin matters, all beauty matters and no matter whether you wear makeup or not embracing beauty either ways is essential in the way you project your confidence.
Join the movement by posting your no makeup selfies ad using the hashtag #beautyreexamined and follow the @beautyreexamined page on instagram where I will post the unedited selfies you guys take!
